Weekly Photo Challenge: The golden hour

Every night since 1928 the Last Post has been played under the Menin Gate Memorial in Ieper (Belgium) at 8 o’clock sharp. The Last Post, the traditional final salute to the fallen, is played by the buglers in honour of the memory of the soldiers of the former British Empire and its allies, who died in the Ypres Salient during the First World War. It is the intention of the Last Post Association to maintain this daily act of homage in perpetuity. The road that runs underneath the arch of the imposing Menin Gate is closed each night for the tribute, and a minute’s silence is observed.
