A little Zebra Finch, a week old ...

For several days we have a small Zebra Finch in our house. The mother didn’t take care of her baby and now we all try to keep the animal alive and it seems to work. It’s quite tiring because you have to feed it  every three to four hours.(day and night!)

  1. I hope that it will live! I imagine that you got informed about what food they need at that stage.
I raised zebra finches. They are delightful little busybody birds. Is the mom yours? was there was no male to help with feeding? when it grows up remember that it will need a companion, best if of the opposite sex. These are birds that live happier if they are not alone. But maybe you have raised them before and you know all that. If not, feel free to contact me. My email is in my Avatar. Good luck to your little angel…

    • Sorry for the late answer but I had so much work last week. Our son has an aviary in the garden and he is informed about what food they need. Our little Zebra Finch is still alive and gives us a lot of work but also a lot of love. In the evening, the bird comes out of his cage and keeps our son or daughter company. (jumps for one head to the other). But in a few days or weeks he or she will need a comanion like you wrote. In the meantime we just enjoy his company.

      • Margot, thank for your reply. Let me know when you are ready to get him/her a companion. I should probably tell you a how to get them acquainted. …

      • We don’t know if it is al male or female, We don’t know if it is Kate or William (from England)… we have to wait. This weekend we are going to Germany and… our little friend is going with us!
